I just pinked up some new ideas at Learning 2.0!
Tech integration in a French classroom
Have I already told you that I teach French? I believe that teaching language is all about bringing authenticity in the classroom. Because learning and acquiring a new language must be a need. That’s where technology integration fits into my language classroom because it brings authentic materials and I can create “authentic “tasks.
Technology also changes the way teachers teach, offering educators effective ways to reach different types of learners and assess student understanding through multiple means. It also enhances the relationship between teacher and student. When technology is effectively integrated into subject areas, teachers grow into roles of adviser, content expert, and coach. Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun.
This quote from Edutopia, yet wrote 8 years ago summarizes perfectly my definition of technology integration.
#learning 2
I just attended the first ever Learning 2.0 Europe in Milan. And here are the things that resonate to me about technology integration.
We don’t need a moonshot to integrate technology as Sheldon Bradshaw explained.

“Teachers are innovators, they share and advocate”. That’s why, we, educators, need to connect to each other, to collaborate with each other and to share to get through our “brick wall” .
For the preconference, I worked and learned with the great Mark Shillitoe about pop up maker spaces. We had to make a scribble bot. During that time, we all worked together and alone on our robot. We collaborated, asked questions, get frustrated! But it was such a good feeling when the robots started scribbling! The scribble bot was just an introduction for the next part of the precon where we use Scratch and Makey Makey.

Marcello Mongardi session, “connect your students, connect your communities, connect yourself”, the session led by Marcello Mongardi confirmed that we learnt a lot from each other and we learnt better collectively.
The time spent with my world language cohort session made me realized that tech integration is not a virtual world. Those sharing moments allowed us to ask burning questions and to share specific advices.
Finally, the last workshop of the day I attended was “taming the big bad wolf: helping parents to freak out less about their kids using tech” led by Brian Farrell. Along with the great resources that Brian shared with us came, and we all agreed with, this quote from Albert Einstein.
Modelling isn’t one way of influencing people. It’s the only way.

Hi Suzy,
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Learning 2 was such a great conference!!! (can't find the perfect word to describe it!)
I've a lot to share with you and can't wait to see you on Monday
Magali
Yay #learning2! I know that feeling of coming back feeling the buzz and feeling connected and feeling like there are like minded people. Thanks so much for sharing! I had huge FOMO the entire time!
ReplyDeleteHi Rebekah!
ReplyDelete#learning2 was really a great experience, great support from teachers with different background.
I meant “pinked up” as a play-on-words but actually more like a private joke as pink (on top of being my favourite colour) was the #learning 2 Europe colour!
